Design Guru Day is an annual event at the Institute of Design, JK Lakshmipat University, celebrated on 9th November in memory of

Prof. M. P. Ranjan. In 2021, Judy Frater was honoured as the Design Guru for her significant contributions to design and crafts in India.

As part of this event, my classmates and I created an origami bird installation. The installation symbolised Judy Frater’s journey of uplifting and empowering artisans. It comprised 26 origami birds, where 25 represented the first group of artisans she worked with, and one bird represented Judy herself.
