System Design Project with DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation)

Our project focused on the integration of design principles with systems thinking. This approach involved a comprehensive examination of a problem, considering all the components of the system and their interdependencies. We recognized that modifying one element could have ripple effects throughout the entire system, composed of numerous interconnected components.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) assigned us stations for our project, which are Foot Over Bridge (FOB) located at the interchange between Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus Metro Station (DDSC) and Daula Kuan (DKV) for our intervention.
Our process involved thorough observation, investigation, interviews, analysis, and synthesis to understand the intricacies of the FOB and the interchange it served. After this extensive research, we identified the FOB as the focal point for implementing systemic changes.
The solutions were presented based on these problem statements:
1. DMRC passengers feel confused and frustrated when switching between two stations via the FOB because they lack necessary information about distances, routes, and train schedules, making it hard to plan their journeys.

2. DMRC passengers feel unsafe and exhausted when using the Foot Overbridge (FOB) due to the absence of safety features, escape routes, and the longer route, making their commute uncomfortable and distressing.

3. The DMRC spends money on FOB's maintenance even when there is low footfall on it. This is leading to expenses without generating any revenue, which is a problem for the organisation.
